Mont De Lancey

Mont De Lancey

The Education Centre at Mont De Lancey is facilitated by Wandin Yallock Primary School in partnership with Mont De Lancey Historical Society and has been established for well over 10 years.

The Education Centre explores the lifestyles of late 19th century to early 20th century Wandin settlers. Guided tours of our facilities and hands on experiences of settler activities for all students ensure a rich understanding of this unique time in our history.

Whether it is 'being disciplined' in our old school house, learning to write with 'pen and nib' & inkwells, playing quoits, making peg dolls & lavender bags, cooking damper, making butter, or watching the blacksmith at work, students are always engaged and eager to participate.

Activities are designed to cater for Primary School students and we are able to tailor a program especially for the needs of your students. Secondary schools are also welcome.

School visits to the education center occur on Tuesdays & Thursdays unless other arrangements are made.

The cost is $750.00 per day up to 50 students ($5.00 per extra student). In order for students to gain the most from the day, we recommend a maximum of 70 students per visit. All bookings are coordinated through Wandin Yallock.

There is no cost for teachers or parent volunteers – however we ask for them to join with students in dressing up in ‘olden day’ clothes.  It is not necessary to purchase clothes for children or adults – just be creative with existing wardrobes i.e. rolled up track suit pants, checked shirts, caps and dresses.  Adults will also have an active participation on the day.
