Junior School Council & Enviro Squad

Junior School Council

At Wandin Yallock Primary School we strongly believe in the importance of student voice and in giving all students the opportunity to develop leadership skills and learn to communicate with confidence. Our Junior School Council is one of the ways in which we foster these qualities in our students. Junior School Council representatives meet regularly to discuss a wide range of issues. Each class has Junior School Council representatives who are elected by their classmates. At our meetings students discuss many issues and concerns that may have been raised by their peers. Another important role is to consider which organisations they would like to raise funds to support as well as our World Vision Sponsor child. Junior School Councillors organise events such as Crazy Hair Day, a Coin Drive or Footy Colours Day.

Enviro Squad

The Enviro Squad Committee comprises students from every year level who have an interest in sustainability and the Great Outdoors. These students are always looking for ways to improve our school environment. They have enjoyed tree planting and working bees. In the interests of sustainability the group are always striving to reduce landfill by reducing the amount of packaging in lunch boxes. They are committed to ‘Nude Food’ and encourage class members to bring rubbish free lunches. The Enviro Squad enjoy working alongside and learning from members of the parent Facilities group.
