At Wandin Yallock Primary School we strongly believe in the importance of student voice and in giving all students the opportunity to develop leadership skills and learn to communicate with confidence. Our Junior School Council is one of the ways in which we foster these qualities in our students. Junior School Council representatives meet regularly to discuss a wide range of issues. Each class has 2-4 Junior School Council representatives who are elected by their classmates. At our meetings students discuss many issues and concerns that may have been raised by their peers. Another important role is to consider which organisations they would like to raise funds to support as well as our World Vision Sponsor village. Junior School Councillors organise events such as Crazy Hair Day, a Coin Drive or Footy Colours Day.
