School Council

Our School Council is a cornerstone of the Wandin Yallock community, helping to shape the vision and future of our school. Working in genuine partnership with families and the wider community, the Council ensures that every decision reflects what is best for our students. Their leadership and dedication help our school continue to grow, evolve and thrive, creating a place where every child can flourish.

What School Council Does

  • Sets the broad direction and vision for the school

  • Supports and enhances educational opportunities for students

  • Works with the Principal on policy development and school improvement

Who Is on School Council?

School Council is made up of:

  • Parent members

  • Department of Education employee members

  • Community (co-opted) members (optional)

Councillors are elected for a two-year term, with elections held each February or March.

Why Join School Council?

Becoming a School Council member is a great way to be actively involved in the life of our school. It offers the opportunity to:

  • Contribute to decision-making that directly impacts students

  • Support both current and future students

  • Strengthen your connection to the school community

No special expertise is needed—just enthusiasm, a willingness to work with others, and the time to participate in Council meetings and activities. School Councils work best when members bring varied backgrounds, skills, and experiences.

Council Meetings

School Council meets twice per term, usually on the third Wednesday of the month in the evening. Sub-committees may meet at other times as required.
